Neville Bartley

I have been involved in youth ministry for nearly 36 years and am currently the National Youth Consultant Team Leader for Scripture Union NZ. I am passionate about training, supporting, and equipping both leaders and young people to be all they can be in Christ. I am passionate about seeing young people take their faith into their daily lives and be Jesus to a hurting world.

Larissa Pearce

I am Larissa. I'm from Dunedin and have worked with children and young people in education and ministry for over 20 years. I believe relationships are central to community; and healthy relationships are crucial for thriving community. I am passionate about equipping people with practical tools and strategies for supporting the wellbeing of themselves, and others in their community. Together with husband Paul (our two teenage children, and dog Pepper) I enjoy taking breaks in the caravan - especially along the coast and anywhere warm!

Eli Savill

Hello, I'm Eli and I'am the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Youth Consultant. My role involves supporting, training and connecting with those doing the Mahi in different contexts and faith expressions of youth ministry. I bounce around the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, connecting with all those involved in youth ministry and youth work. It brings me great joy to see the church empowered to fulfil the great commission. I have a strong passion for mental health and am always looking to create opportunities for conversations about mental health.

I am married to my wife Noelle, and we have two beautiful energetic boys. I grew up in the Waikato and went to university in Chicago. We have lived in the Waikato since returning to New Zealand about 7 years ago.

What you leave the workshop with.

Upon completion and full attendance of the two day course, you will receive a MHFA course certificate of participation” In addition to this you can become an accredited Mental Health First Aider by completing a free open online test. This is valid for three years and then a refresher course would need to be completed.

You receive a manual that has in-depth information with what you have been taught during the workshop. The manual also has an in-depth list of resources of where to go and practical resources to assist someone experiencing a mental health challenge.

Please note this course is for people aged 18 years and over. This is an education workshop not a course for therapeutic purposes or a support group.

During the Workshop

The standard MHFA face to face course is a minimum of 12 hours. This can be configured in number of ways, and we are happy to explore this with you.

When providing the Mental Health First Aid course it is always best to do so with two instructors, given the sensitivity and depth of the content. For this reason, we also keep the group size to a maximum of 20 participants. We have tailored our delivery towards Christian based organisations and our pricing reflects our desire to train people within these communities.
