GATHER North is a camps leader training weekend… a chance to gather with people curious or passionate about youth camping ministry from all around the North Island and this August, we’ll be doing something a little different! We have 25spaces for people to register for a weekend hike. The first night we’ll camp at Dickeys Flat campground, ready to hit the trail early Saturday morning.

On Saturday morning we’ll walk into Waitawheta Hut – a three-hour hike which is relatively flat the whole way, encountering many waterways and bridges to cross! It’s a great hike accessible for all levels of experience, easy and stimulating for all as we break up the walk with sessions together and no doubt some marvelling at the flora and fauna. If gear is a barrier for you to attend or if this is a first for you, please reach out and we can chat through the comprehensive gear list so you’re prepared and have extra gear to borrow if you need it.

From Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, we'll go through different movements - getting to know each other, prayer together, practical workshops, prompts to reflect, hearing about the camps coming up, as well as time to move our bodies in the outdoors. This is for people who have been leading with us for years, as well as for those who are getting to know Scripture Union New Zealand’s camping ministry for the first time. As well as equipping you for camp leadership, you’ll get the opportunity to hear about our Spring camps and get involved if you’re interested! GATHER North is an energising weekend exploring what it means to lead teenagers in adventure-based spaces, we hope to see you there!
