Camp Mission is a winter camp based on Pōnui Island and is for boys in years 11 to 13. Our aim at Camp Mission is to explore what it really means to follow Jesus – to step out further into faith, to know God more deeply.

This is a camp full of action, excitement, fun and adventure. But it is also a challenge! Why a challenge?

Our focus is on young men as we believe they hold so much potential and now is a key time in their lives to strengthen this. Camp Mission aims to inspire campers in their faith and embolden them to confront life's challenges with Christ.

We have many action-packed fun activities planned that make the most of the wonderful Pōnui Island, including wide-games, sports activities, overnighters, and more. We will conclude the week with a full day challenge over the whole island! These activities are designed to build faith, comradery, problem-solving and team skills.

Through these we want to equip campers with leadership skills and a new depth of faith to take on life’s challenges, knowing their Creator God in a deeper way. It is for anyone. The only thing we ask is that you’re up for the challenge!

For the first time ever, we’re offering CREATE! An arts camp designed for those who are interested in creativity and want to explore its connection to faith and worship

We’ll spend five days together in Christchurch, where we'll set up camp amidst a collection of creative spaces & next to a beautiful beach which will no doubt be the source of a lot of inspiration and endless opportunities to create. Here, you’ll have the chance to experiment with a variety of artistic expressions, including music, visual arts, dance, photography, creative writing, and more. Whether you want to focus on one area or dabble in everything, this is your space to explore, create, and be inspired

But CREATE is about more than just making art—it’s about discovering how creativity can be a way of encountering God, expressing faith, and reflecting on what truly matters. Through hands-on workshops, group reflections, and time in Scripture, we’ll explore how the arts can shape the way we pray, worship, and engage with the world around us

Your camp leaders bring experience across different creative practices and are excited to journey with you in discovering new ways to express faith through creativity. Throughout the week, you’ll also collaborate on a major group art project, culminating in an epic showcase on our final night together. You won’t leave camp empty-handed—you’ll take home something you’ve created, along with fresh inspiration and new ways to connect with God through the arts

Of course, this wouldn’t be a SUNZ Youth Camp without time spent in the great outdoors! Expect to find creative and spiritual inspiration in the beautiful Canterbury ngāhere (bush), where we’ll step away from the usual spaces and let nature fuel both our imagination and our faith.

Whether you’re already deeply involved in the arts or just want to try something new, CREATE is for you! Bring your passion, your curiosity, and your willingness to explore—you never know what you might discover about yourself, your faith, and the God who created it all. !

Whether it’s pushing through a tough climb, navigating a tricky trail, or wrestling with big questions about life and faith, this is a space where you can explore, doubt, question, and discover at your own pace. There’s no pressure, just real conversations, thoughtful reflection, and the chance to see where God is at work in the everyday moments.

And you won’t be doing it alone. This camp is built on community—a place where you’ll be surrounded by encouraging leaders and like-minded mates who have your back. Around the lodge, on the trails, and at the end of an epic day, you’ll share in laughter, deep chats, and moments of connection that turn strangers into lifelong friends. There’s something powerful about coming together in the outdoors, slowing down, and creating space for faith to grow in a real and personal way.

Each day, we’ll push our limits, share in incredible experiences, and form bonds that last well beyond camp. Whether you’re coming for the thrill, the friendships, or the chance to pause and reflect, this is an experience you won’t want to miss.

11-day wilderness journey for Year 12 and 13 Students.

E3 is for Year 12-13 school students (ages 17-18). Travelling as a small community through remote wilderness areas of Aotearoa New Zealand, each expedition is focused on developing the character of participants and strengthening their connections with God, others, and creation. Through a combination of shared experiences (back-country cooking, participation in citizen science projects and practical conservation, facilitating decision-making), daily discussions and solo-time, we will explore how we fit into God's story and reflect on what this might mean for the next season of life.

E3 - Young Adults

Join us in in the magnificent Marlborough Sounds, where for 7 days we will explore the Whenua and Moana of Te Tauihu-o-te-Waka. Our expedition will take us by sea kayak, foot, and bike to explore a very important part of Aotearoa New Zealand. By sea kayak we will paddle to out of the way bays & islands with stunning flora & fauna. Then through mountain biking & hiking we will explore the famed Queen Charlotte Track. Which encompasses where Captain Cook first made land in Aotearoa and begun our bicultural journey. All this while living in community for 7days and together embracing questions of our faith & it's intersections with life. This is limited to 12 people, so don’t miss out.
