Holidays, presents, food, and family often define Christmas. Yet too often, the true heart of Christmas — Jesus — is left out of the picture. Many children and young people across New Zealand have never heard about the greatest gift of all:
“...the gift of God is everlasting life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”— Romans 6:23
At Scripture Union New Zealand, we’re passionate about sharing this gift — not just at Christmas, but all year round. Time and again, we see lives transformed as children and young people encounter Jesus, some for the first time and others in a deeper way.
Ten-year-old Charles recently immigrated to New Zealand. He once left his first school camp early because he felt out of place. But at his first SU Creative Edge camp, he was welcomed in and discovered that following Jesus could be joyful and real. His mum was surprised when he stayed for the whole camp — and even more when he came home full of excitement, saying he couldn’t wait to go again! Now Charles reads his Bible every day and attends church more regularly. What a joy to see him discover the greatest gift of all.
Josh, from Auckland, first met SUNZ on Pōnui Island. Experiencing faith in the beauty of the outdoors opened his heart to God. Today, he serves as a camp leader, helping others discover the same life-changing love of Christ that transformed him.
