A dynamic and interactive programme designed to equip people with basic and effective tools, to support themselves, and their friends / whanau by having conversations about their mental health and wellbeing.
Many of us in Aotearoa know someone who is or has been affected by mental health and suicide. Many lives are being destroyed by loss of hope and loss of social connection, and we at Scripture Union New Zealand (SUNZ) are dedicated to being part of the solution.
Are you a dynamic communicator, comfortable with public speaking and passionate about seeing young people thrive? As a facilitator you will be one of the key faces of the Āpōpō programme, teaching from the front alongside a wonderful team of helpers. If this sounds like something you would enjoy, we’d love to hear from you!
If public speaking isn’t necessarily your thing, but you’re good at engaging with young people or adults on a one-on-one or small group level then we’d love to hear from you! Our helpers float around ensuring activities run smoothly and people are engaged, and are a key part of keeping our programme running smoothly.
If you’re low on time but are still keen to be part of our mission, you can still make a huge difference by donating! As a non-profit organisation, we rely on the generous donations of others, so we can keep doing the work we do with young people and their families around the country. Any financial contribution, no matter how small, is always greatly appreciated!
He aha te mea nui o te ao? What is the most important thing in the world?
He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata (It is the people, it is the people, it is the people)
Our current team of staff and volunteer facilitators have many years of experience working with young people in schools and communities across New Zealand and overseas and includes several who are accredited Mental Health First Aid Aotearoa Instructors.
